Job Title: Senior Loss Control Specialist
The successful candidate will be expected to provide a high level of customer service and must perform professional work. The Senior Specialist will act as a resource to member entities providing technical information relative to occupational safety and tort liability exposures. They will provide targeted loss prevention service in the form of on-site safety and risk assessments as well as policy and program development. Duties will also include instructional design and training delivery. The Senior Specialist may also be called upon to analyze workers’ compensation or general liability claims and determine strategies to minimize exposure. At times, the Senior Specialist will conduct special project research/analysis and provide results to the Authority and/or member agencies. Ability and willingness to travel, up to 50% of available time, and some overnight stays are required.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a directly related field or equivalent, and five years increasingly responsible work in a directly related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, including but not limited to those listed below:
• Knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of loss prevention, safety, risk management, and public administration
• Working knowledge of state and federal laws relating to occupational health and safety; industrial hygiene; and, tort liability
• Knowledge and experience of the principles and techniques of employee training
• Analyzing, developing, and implementing policies/procedures
• Problem identification, solution recommendation and implementation
• High intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint
• Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and good public relations with other employees, agencies, members and the public
• Excellent presentation skills
Advanced educational training in fields related to loss prevention, occupational health and safety, business administration, or public administration is highly desirable. Progression toward one or more of the following certifications is also highly desirable: ARM, CSP, or CIH.

The EIA strives to compensate its employees with very competitive salary ranges. The salary range for this position is $76,800 - $111,000 per year. Salary adjustments are based on individual merit and accomplishments.
A generous benefit package is provided including Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan with a generous allowance from which coverage may be provided for the employee and their dependents for health, dental, and vision insurances; long-term disability and short-term disability insurance; life insurance; deferred compensation program; 13 paid holidays per year, and sick, vacation and management leaves. As a PERS participant, EIA employees are exempt from paying into Social Security, except for the Medicare portion of the cost.
Physical requirements of this position typically include: sitting for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, kneeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.
Possession of a valid State of California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles or the ability to obtain one within the first month of employment. Ability and willingness to travel, up to 50% of available time, and overnight stays are required. Proof of auto insurance with no exclusion for business use is required.
