Job Title: Data Analyst, Risk Management and Safety

Job Description 

Location: Glendale, San Diego, Alamo or Granite Bay

JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analyst conducts complex analyses to support the design, planning, and implementation of risk management key performance indicators and outcome measures for BETA Healthcare Group. Provides overall support for all activities and functions related to risk management data analytics. Assists in the coordination and analysis of injury prevention programs. Track trend data from various databases and sources, both internal and external to BETA Healthcare Group, with the objective of identifying risk trends to drive improvement processes for both employee and patient. This position reports to the Vice President of Risk Management and Safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent must have the skills, abilities, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation:
• Define methods to extract, interpret, validate and aggregate data to provide performance indicator reports and benchmark narratives for performance improvement
• Monitor, identify and resolve data accuracy and integrity issues within applications and/or reports
• Compiles data and information into reports to support findings when risks are discovered, and presents reports to Risk Management leadership
• Monitor risk performance, outcomes and/or safety metrics to make recommendations for targeted process improvement projects
• Serve as a liaison between Risk Management and Business Intelligence, assisting with informing the development of internal and external report and dashboard requirements
• Conduct analysis of complex data sets within the data warehouse, highlighting key information at a glance
• Use visualization tools to perform ad hoc analysis of programs and processes
• Prepare overviews and interpretation of reports follow up on assigned action items for various projects, meetings, and committees
• Perform problem analysis for strategic planning initiatives
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and files to support all related activities
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements 

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
• Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare related field of study required.
• Three to five years combined experience in reporting & analysis and/or data manipulation & analysis
• Strong working knowledge of insurance and/or risk management and experience with enterprise data in a health care context
• Advanced proficiency in Excel for creating complex and advanced formulas, v-look up, Excel Pivot tables, and conditional formatting
• Experience analyzing and validating data and working with process owners on driving data capture improvements.
• Competent with information management, research design and execution
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Strong project planning and management skills
• Sound reasoning ability including problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience in or knowledge of business process improvement methodology
• Ability to act independently and as part of a team. A willingness to be flexible and adapt to different stakeholder needs and organizational cultures
In addition to the above, the following is strongly preferred:
• Background in healthcare risk management, safety or quality
• Experience with programming language and report writing, (i.e. SQL)
• Experience with building dashboards in systems such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Basic knowledge of risk management and safety measurement and reporting

TRAVEL
• Ability to travel by car or airplane, including occasional overnight stays
• Must have reliable and safe transportation to other BETA offices and business partners. Employee(s) using their own personal vehicle for business use must maintain: (a) a valid California driver’s license, (b) proper vehicle registration and (c) California’s minimum automobile insurance coverage limits

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the physical ability required:
• Regularly required to sit and use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal, for extended periods
• Ability to stand, and navigate within the work environment as needed
• May require the ability to lift files (up to 25 lbs.) open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Proper lifting techniques required
• Repetitive motion of upper extremities; gripping, pinching and fine manipulation
