PARMA provides a forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas to improve the risk management function of governmental agencies. A further step is available to enhance the sharing of information with risk management professionals through a mentoring program. This program will help those relatively new to risk management to find solutions to their problems. The focus of the program is to match those with professional expertise to those needing direction to perform their risk management assignments.
The program has two phases. First, mentoring assistance will be available during the annual conference. Mentors can suggest the programs best suited for mentees, discuss networking capabilities in their local or chapter area and answer general questions about risk management and/or the conference. Secondly, this opportunity will not be limited to the annual conference. Mentoring will carry forward into the chapters so that Mentors will continue to be available to identify and select resources to guide mentees towards resolving their risk management issues.
We are soliciting those who are interested in being either a
Mentor or a Mentee. Mentors selected will have specific working responsibility for some phase of risk management in a public agency, be available to Mentees during the conference and throughout the year and share their mentoring experiences with us to improve the program. Those to be mentored will need professional guidance in their risk management responsibilities.
To participate in the program, both Mentors and Mentees need to understand the expectations of the program and submit the information requested (see links below) to the Mentoring Committee. You will be advised if you are selected as a
Mentor . Mentees will be notified of their assigned
Mentor . Feedback to the Mentoring Committee will be appreciated from both Mentors and Mentees.
We wish you success in this relationship. This program can enhance individual leadership skills and provide professional competency for mentees.
