Membership
The original founding member agencies numbered 16 public entities. Since then,
PARMA has grown significantly to over 400 public entity members and 200 associate members (private risk management service providers). The Associate members have the same rights and privileges as regular members except the right to vote or hold office.

Activities
PARMA is a California Not for Profit Corporation consisting of six chapters(Bay Area, Sacramento , Southern California , Central, Gold Coast and San Diego Imperial). Each chapter is responsible for providing periodic local training sessions for its members covering issues in liability, workers' compensation, property, employee benefits, and loss prevention.

PARMA conducts an Annual Conference for all of its member agencies. As the second largest public agency risk managers Conference in the United States , this 3 day event with workshops, exhibitors, and other special activities is conducted by nationally renowned experts in all areas of risk management and the insurance industry. PARMA encourages several representatives of each member agency to attend.

Dues
Regular public agency membership dues are $100.00 per year while Associate Memberships are $275.00 per year payable in January. Membership dues are paid on a calendar year basis, with memberships running from January 1 - December 31 of each year.  Associate member dues are prorated to $137.50 if a new associate member joins after July 1st. Additional staff names to receive notices and publications may be added at no additional charge, as long as the mailing address is the same as the primary representative. Contact

Other Services
A periodic newsletter, PARMA FACTS, is e-mailed to all members. It includes current information regarding risk management and legislative issues, Chapter programs and meeting schedules, employment opportunities, training sessions, and other information pertinent to PARMA members.

In addition, PARMA publishes a comprehensive membership directory annually and mails it to all members as a useful resource to network with other persons involved in public agency risk management.  This is produced on CD-ROM

Each year, PARMA provides special regional workshops and seminars covering a variety of risk management topics supported by various written resources collected from PARMA members. These special low-cost training seminars are conducted by PARMA members who are experts in their respective areas of specialization. Membership in PARMA is an invaluable asset to all public agencies which seek practical and cost-effective solutions to their risk management needs regardless of the size or type of agency.
